Lower
Lehman Creek Campground
National Park
Service - Great Basin National Park
The Lower Lehman Creek campground is located near the beginning of
the Wheeler Peak Road just a couple of miles from the
Lehman Caves Visitor Center.
This camp is the
only one open year round in the Main Complex of the park.
The sites are set up in one loop that parallels the road. Many
sites back up to Lehman Creek. A majority of the sites are
pull-throughs (great for RV's). Lower Lehman is situated in a
low-flung aspen forest, which is quite pretty. However, this does
not make for a lot of shade, in fact a few sites are completely in the open.
This is the least
desirable camp in the park, but it's the first one you get to and
is in the best location, right in the center of the park.
These factors and it's limited size, makes for a busy
campground. And surprisingly, mule deer frequent area.
If you don't need a pull-through, I recommend
Upper Lehman. It's only a 1/4 mile away, but is more
scenic. Reviewed SEP98, JUL03.
