Washoe Lake
Campground is located inside of Washoe Lake State
Park on the shores of, you guessed it, Washoe
Lake. This campground is not in
a forest, but there are a few trees at
a few sites. This does not mean that this is
not a pretty campground, because there is an
awesome panoramic view across the lake of the
Sierras.
The
campground is located in tall desert
shrubbery on the edge of sand dunes
pretty near the lake shore. It
can get pretty warm here in the summer, so
you might have to take a jump in the lake to
cool down. There are two loops in which to
choose the perfect site. There are no big
differences between the loops, but the
sites closest to the lake seem
to be the best, but the ones that have a
tree are probably the best in summer.
Each site has a
picnic table and a fire ring, but there is
nothing to burn on site, so bring in your
own wood. There is no Camp Host, but
there is a manned gate at the Entry and
the park's headquarters is just up the
road. There is a beach for
swimming and a pier for boating. Reviewed 07/1998.
