Obsidian campground is located above the Little Walker River Canyon between the communities of Walker and Bridgeport off US Highway 395.

Obsidian is located in one gorgeous setting, but the facilities are rather crummy in comparison to other camps in the Bridgeport Range District.  This is one of the few camps I know about where you are charged a fee, but there is no water provided.  The bathrooms were borderline disgusting at both visits.

The sites are in three loops, under a dense forest of pretty aspens and a few pine trees.  Molybdenite Creek runs just to the north and east of camp, but very few sites take advantage of this.  The camp is so pretty, it's a shame it so poorly maintained.

There are hikes all around this camp.  Just hop in the truck, 5 within 5 miles.  The area is just simply pretty.  Fall foliage is just awesome here.  Visited 08/98, 10/06.
