Buckeye Campground
Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest -
Bridgeport Ranger
District
Buckeye
camp is located due west of Bridgeport, California along
it's namesake...Buckeye Creek. Access is down a
fair dirt road from either US 395 or Twin Lakes Road.
The road is passable to cars and minivans from the Twin
Lakes point of entry, if obvious care is taken.
Buckeye is
your
typical big Sierra campground. It is quite
sprawling along the creek, but only a dozen of the sites
have creek frontage. This can make creek sites are hard
to come by on weekends. The camp is quite
popular, especially among Urban Nevadans. The camp is fair to well shaded
with tall pines (more shade in the rear).
There are flush toilets are
available in every loop (they are the RV type,
not typical restroom fashion), and a couple of older vault
toilets.
There is fishing
in Buckeye Creek (the state does planting here). This area is mainly used
as overflow for Twin Lakes (which is very popular).
