Click to Locate Fallen Leaf on an Area MapFallen Leaf campground is named for nearby Fallen Leaf Lake.  But don't be fooled, it's not on Fallen Leaf Lake.  The lake can be accessed by trail from camp or turn right out of camp and travel approximately 3 miles down a patchily paved narrow road.

The boat ramp for the lake is at the Fallen Leaf Marina which is clear across on the other side.  With how much traffic there is on the road and how narrow it is, it's quite dangerous to take a large truck with a boat in tow down there.

The campground is clean with all the facilities you can get from a Forest Service campground.  Sites are averagely spaced, and well forested with typical low Tahoe trees, mostly ponderosa pine, with occasional white fir and aspen.  There aren't any sites on the lake here.

There is a day-use area with a trailhead, but I don't know where the trail goes.  Camp Richardson is only 2 miles away with Lake Tahoe access, a general store and horseback riding.  The City of South Lake Tahoe is about 5 miles away.    Reviewed 07/2000.
